Beyond the classroom

At Stella Maris we pride ourselves on all the clubs and experiences we offer outside the classroom. The small size of the school gives many benefits regarding academic and social development which allows individual preparation for Senior school and creates an inner confidence that stands the children apart.

The school reputation is acknowledged in many of the independent grammar schools in Manchester and Stockport as developing well rounded, confident and accomplished students ready for their new life at Senior School. This is of course achieved in the classroom but the work done outside the classroom significantly contributes to this outcome.

The majority of our extra-curricular activities are provided by external professionals to ensure high quality delivery and experience. Our clubs are updated often to ensure we are always offering the children a broad range of opportunities. We also support many external qualifications such as LAMDA and Piano grades.

Examples of the clubs we are offer are:

Speech (LAMDA), Computer and Coding Club, Music Lessons (External Grades), French Club, Art Club, Cooking Club, Sports Club (Led by Stockport County), Gardening Club, School Choir and many more…

We also offer our Year 6 an Exam Club In order to further prepare for the 11+ Grammar School entrance exams. It runs for the half term before the entrance exams free of charge and run by the Headteacher.

 

School Trips

Every year, we arrange class and whole school trips to special places of interest that we know our Pre-Prep, infant and junior children will find both stimulating and fun. Trips over recent years have included:

We also visit attractions of interest to all ages as a whole school, for example, Manchester Airport, Eureka and The Palace Theatre.
