During this past week the children have been learning about VE Day and the importance of this event in our heritage. They have carried out lots of research in their History lessons about the parties and the celebrations which happened 80 years ago. Learning about British life and culture is a fundamental part of our curriculum at Stella Maris School. Understanding the significance behind the historic moment when World War ll ended in Europe promotes empathy in young minds. The children also enjoyed their own “street party lunch” in the school garden today and there were flags, bunting and music to add to the occasion.
