‘Stella Maris has been a turning point in my child’s education. The classroom environment that Stella Maris offers is bespoke to each child’s individual needs. Her personal development, which I deem to be equally as important as academic performance has developed greatly in her time at the school, making her into a well rounded young lady that is resilient, hard working and most importantly kind- these are all the values that we as family work hard on to instil in our children and we are beyond grateful that we found a school that not only shares our values but also drives children forward academically to achieve their full potential.

Our daughter moved to Stella Maris when she was in Year 5. She was so happy and nurtured there and made friends straight away. Her academic progress improved leaps and bounds. She successfully passed the entrance exam of her first choice secondary school and was delighted! As parents we were extremely happy with the care and teaching provided at Stella Maris and would recommend it to any parents looking for a small, nurturing school that helps children excel academically.

Our son joined Stella Maris in the later years of his primary school education. We made the leap from the state sector because it was unable to provide sufficient intellectual and emotional support for him. After experiencing a few taster days, we were welcomed into the fold at Stella Maris, and our son soon found his feet with the entire teaching and student community. Our son embraced the communal playing area whereby all the year groups can interact. Being able to mentor a younger child gave him confidence and maturity, and instilled the values of care for others. All the school events (concerts, celebrations) are produced communally, reinforcing the connections across age and gender. Academically, our son thrived at Stella Maris. The teaching approach pays close attention to the details of each individual student. The Headteacher, Mrs Johnson, is one of the most extraordinarily talented and sincere educators I have ever had the great honour to meet; she has a vision and effectiveness that is unsurpassed. What sets Stella Maris apart from so many schools is its family atmosphere, and the warmth, relaxed approach, and genuine concern of the teaching and parental community working together in harmony. Now our son is in secondary grammar school, we miss our school community, but are able to stay in touch through various events. I feel enormous gratitude to the school; it was certainly a propitious decision to join the Stella Maris community.

The years spent at Stella Maris School was a transformative period for both my children. I recall how as a father I had lost faith in the ability of my son’s previous school to deliver a sound education to my son. Today, I am a very thankful father whose same child secured a spot in a grammar school in Manchester. The school brought out the best in him, in behaviour, in thinking and in articulating his thoughts with very supportive and dedicated staff. You replicated the same successes with my daughter and forever we are eternally grateful to this great school.

We have had a wonderful experience at Stella Maris over the past seven years and our daughter has benefitted enormously from the educational approach, the focus on creating confident, polite and inquisitive children, and the supportive culture of this wonderful school where pupils are given time to grow. We were drawn by the emphasis on working with the children to help them develop their own self-confidence. Friends had visited it for their children and brought it to our attention. For parents it is a warm, close-knit, well-organised and focused community and for a child the school is very welcoming, and its small size makes it feel like a large family.

We came across Stella Maris School when we were desperately looking for a small size school that was big on academics without compromising pastoral care. Stella Maris School over delivered. The teaching staff are not only exceptional in their work but very kind and caring, very willing to go the extra mile to see that the children succeed. They helped to foster the love of learning in our children, who have carried on the ethos learned from the school. Our kids enjoyed going to school and speak of Stella Maris with fondness.
